Recently, I have been doing a lot of reporting on Islam in Brooklyn, and NYC. Tonight, though, we will take a look at the presence of Islam in Staten Island. Specifically, we will study the situation of the Muslim Majlis of Staten Island (who are located at 104 Rhine Avenue).
We start with their “About” page.
The name “Islam” simply means “Self-surrender to the Will of God.” It is the way of life that all Prophets throughout history have taught, from those known in the Western world such as Abraham, Moses and Jesus to those sent to other parts of the earth like Salih, Shu’ayb and Luqman, the African. The last and final Guide was Muhammad, may he be blessed, who lived in sixth century Arabia. A “Muslim,”(i,e. a self surrendered one,) is a follower of this faith. Nearly one in every five persons alive today is a Muslim.
Right off the bat, the deception begins! Jesus did NOT teach people to kill, rape, and enslave. However, Koran verse 33:50 shows us that Mohammad indeed WAS a rapist!

Does anyone have any evidence that Jesus was a rapist? To make matters worse, numerous verses in the Koran state that the actions of Mohammad are to be followed for posterity. Here is one example thereof:

Let’s take a look at what else they are trying to sell to us! From their “About Islam” page:

Yes, Islam does instruct people on how we may live in “peace”. Unfortunately, this includes instructions to be obeyed by non-Muslims as well. Convert, pay the jizya, be put into slavery, or die. Sounds fair…

From where do these teachings come?
Muslims have two major sources from which they derive their religious teachings. The first is a book known as “the Quran,” the direct Revelation of God to His last Prophet, the blessed Muhammad. The second source is the collection of sayings and pronouncements of the Prophet which are complimentary to the Revelation. This second source is known as “the Hadith.”
What about Mohammad? Who was he?
Muhammad (pbuh) was born in Arabia in the year 570. His father’s name was Abdullah and his mother’s was Aminah. Abdullah died before his son was born and his mother died when he was yet a small child. He was first placed under the care of his grandfather and then later his uncle, who raised his nephew as his own. As a boy, Muhammad (pbuh), disliked the prevailing custom of idol worship practiced by his people. How many a night he must have paused to watch the stars and endless plains, while tending his uncle’s flocks, and wondered at the real Creator of it all. He shunned the mischief of his fellow youth and soon developed a reputation for honesty, generosity, and compassion.

Well, there it is! Submit to Islam, or Mohammad the terrorist/warmonger would have killed you. Some hero.

How does Islam compare with Christianity and Judaism?

Their argument does not make any sense at all!

I knew that at one time the Mormon church openly supported polygamy, and I heard about this one massacre that took place somewhere in Utah perpetrated by members of the Mormon church, but I never heard that about Joseph Smith being a psychopath and waging wars. Knowing the Muslims, they will interpret verse 10 and 11 as being identical to their own verse “do not take the Jews and Christians as your friends…” thereby making the comparison of Christian equivalency to Islam. These people are not only delusional, they are following a plagiarist.

That’s not entirely true. There are some striking similarities. All three are monotheistic and have similar creation myths in addition to some other things. Adam and Eve are in the Koran as well as a lot of other characters from new and old testament, and some of the stories involving them in the Koran are similar. A version of the story of Noah’s ark is in the Koran. Obviously Muhammad took stories from the bible and adapted them for his own purposes. From what I understand some of the early text written by early Christians that were rejected for inclusion in the bible, actually made it into the Koran somehow. Also there’s a reason why Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all called Abrahamic religions. Its not just being politically correct. Abraham plays a role in all three faiths.
By the way, I meant to capitalize the word “Bible” since its the name of a book, but I forgot. Sorry.

Actually, in the Koran, this story is repeated many times. In the Surah that is titled Noah, the description of infidels as vermin is given by Noah himself. The Koran shows him to be a man of exclusion, a man responding to his own hatred as much as to Allah.

Well, I don’t want to debate you on this, but there are some pretty horrible things in the old testament as well, especially involving some of the things that God commands the Israelites to do, although the god of the Bible doesn’t exactly command his followers to wage war against all the unbelievers for all time, until they convert, submit or die.

I want to answer this point about imperatives toward destruction in the Bible as they relate to the Koran.
I see a false equivalency here. And I’ll tell you why.
When we’re talking about the Bible, and the dynamic of community of belief versus infidels, the tale is that told in the Books of Joshua and Judges. The imperatives for violence are not there, and the advantage of the Israelites is worded by God thus: “I have delivered … into your hands.”
In Chapter 8, however, there are specific imperatives toward violence in the taking of Ai:

eib, Good stuff. I too tire of people saying there are parallels between the Old Testament and the Korshitran, that the OT is full of violence. As you say, the Korshitran commands violence NOW and as a means of conquering the world. It is the mooslum duty to kill! There is no comparison between the story of a god admonishing his people and the acts of a herd in present day committing violence against anyone and everyone who is not part of their blood cult. Without the Jews, the world would not be as advanced as it is. Without the mooslums, the world would be a better place. The Bible never claims itself to be perfect, clear or without contradictions.
In fact, it is a scriptural and religious truth that many verses of the Bible contradict each other and can be misinterpreted.
The Koran claims perfect clarity, finality, and immutability.
