Thankfully McChrystal was not calling the shots during WWII. We not only need to clean house of our government, but the Pentagon as well. We need strong leaders, not appeasers.
McChrystal focuses on peace with Taliban: report
LONDON — The NATO commander in Afghanistan said his troop surge could lead to a negotiated peace with the Taliban, in an interview published Monday ahead of a major conference this week on the war.US General Stanley McChrystal also told the Financial Times he hopes his allies will leave Thursday’s meeting in London with a “renewed commitment” to the increasingly bloody conflict.
By using the 30,000-strong surge in US troops to secure territory stretching from the Taliban’s southern heartlands to Kabul, the general said he aims to weaken the insurgency so much its leaders would accept a political settlement.
“As a soldier, my personal feeling is that there’s been enough fighting,” said McChrystal.
“I believe that a political solution to all conflicts is the inevitable outcome. And it’s the right outcome,” he added.
Asked is he would be content to see Taliban leaders in a future government in the country, the general said: “I think any Afghans can play a role if they focus on the future, and not the past.”
The US troop surge, announced by President Barack Obama in December, is pouring tens of thousands of extra troops into Afghanistan this year on top of 70,000 already there.
More than 113,000 international soldiers are fighting the Taliban under US and NATO command and losing soldiers almost daily, in the conflict which started with the US-led invasion of 2001.
As major powers prepare to map the way forward in Afghanistan at the London conference, McChrystal urged: “I’d like everybody to walk out of London with a renewed commitment, and that commitment is to the right outcome for the Afghan people.”
This is an admission that Western non-Muslim troops have been dying in vain.
When we say there are no moderate Muslims we are condemned as fascists by Muslim appeasers and politicians. We are told that the Taliban and Al-Qaeda profess a perverted form of Islam, and do not represent the vast majority of so-called "moderate Muslims".
This is a blatant lie. If the Taliban and Al-Qaeda are such perverse Muslims, why have they not been wiped out by the vast majority of "moderate Muslims"? Why is not every single Muslim country sending their young people into battle against the perverse Muslims, in the name of Islam?
The reason is that McChrystal and his ilk, including every single politician in the West who says that Islam is a religion of peace, is a moron. Such morons are willing to sacrifice our young people in fighting for a lie, then capitulate to the liars calling themselves "moderate" Muslims, who quietly support the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, while still proclaiming they are "extremists".
I think that the governments of the UK and the USA actually believed that they were going to reinvent Islam. As we see, the infidel does not get to dictate to Muslims what Islam is.
There are no moderate Muslims, which is why none are taking up arms to fight the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. There seems to be no end to those willing to join the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
Why is it Geert Wilders is on trial, but those who say we should negotiate with the Taliban are walking free? The only sound reason Geert Wilders should be on trial is for saying there are moderate Muslims. There are plenty of co-defendents on that charge.
Yes, there are no moderate Muslims. Islam is a political ideology. McCrystal makes me sick. Where are the Pattons of our generation. I do agree, however, though my heart breaks for the women of Islam, that we should get the hell out of their shithole countries, end Islamic immigration to Western nations, and most definitely, take out Iran's nuclear sites, NOW! The taliban/al-qaeda interpretation of islam is the norm. There is no other islam than that. If you disagree with the t/a-q interpretation then you are an apostate and not a real muslim and deserves to be killed.
The truth is, they actually wanted a representative from the Taliban at the London conference, but so far no thumbs up for that. They think they can integrate the Taliban as they did the sons of Iraq, tribes, and some of Sadr's guys, but I don't believe it will work. The Taliban are different.
