This afternoon on a cold, wet, winter day, Muslims took to the streets in support of the “the great Egyptian people”. In the recent election that took place in Egypt, “the great Egyptian people” voted in Islam parties to the tune of 2/3Rd’s of the seats in their government. With the pro-Sharia Muslim Brotherhood taking the lions share. This rally was lead by the same guy who took the stage at a recent UN rally for Palestinian statehood. He says they stand against dictators, but not a word about the Muslim Brotherhood. Muslims living in America would never be be pro-Sharia. Nah, that could never happen…
Of course no Muslim rally would be complete without what are most likely non-Muslims (dhimmis.)

The title is wrong. That was not Muslims rally, that was all Egyptians rally. There were both Muslims and Christians in that event. I do not know how the writer made it a Muslim event!! And when you asked why these Muslims were in America, I knew for sure that you did not understand the cause for that event. It was against the dictatorship regime that is still in Egypt and that is why we are here because some people support our corrupt regimes and provide them with weapons and torture tools and when we try to find a better life away from the oppression, they dare to ask us why we are here!

I want to thank all of you for your ptgsinos here. I have lived in Germany for the past 7 years and am now very involved in what gets called here Integration Policy. There is also a rise in hostility towards Muslims here, and it is generalized to all of Islam. What I find missing in the comments that Germans make about Islam and the questions they don’t ask is exactly what several of you refer to: the personal experience and meaning of Islam, or for that matter, spirituality. German culture, is, in my experience, very heady and avoids direct expression of feelings and personal experience. So in programs on Islam, it is all very factual , which of course is often a cover for feelings and beliefs. Reading your comments helped clarify for me that I have been missing this personal aspect in the discussions here, and now I am more committed to find ways to bring our personal experieces and feelings into the discussions here even if it is culturally uncomfortable. This expression of personal meaning is something I miss from the U.S. again, Thanks.
