NEW YORK — New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says a New York congressman’s planned hearings on radical Islam are not appropriate.
Rep. Peter King said in an opinion piece in Sunday’s Newsday that he intends to “break down the wall of political correctness” in the debate about what he calls Islamic radicalization.
Bloomberg was asked Monday about King’s plans.
The mayor said he does not agree with King and said the hearings are not appropriate.
The mayor was among the first and strongest defenders of the right for Muslims to build a mosque in lower Manhattan, near ground zero.
King is a Republican from Long Island. Bloomberg is a Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent.

So Rep Peter King’s request for Congressional inquiry into radical Islam is the right and for-sighted thing to do. It is not just Americans who are facing with this problem from radical Islam. Many other countries do too.

“This is a direct threat against our lives,” Tawadrous said in an interview. “They are trying to inform each other in hopes that someone can carry out this threat. They could be in Egypt and they could be here. Our names and our pictures are listed.”
One of the prominent figures listed on the website is Salim Nagieb, who helped establish a Coptic organization in Canada. Nagieb is described on the website as opposing Islamic Shariah and converting Muslims to Christianity. His picture, career background and cell phone number are listed on the website.
But he said in an interview he won’t be frightened. “I only fear God,” said Nagieb when reached by phone. “These websites mean nothing any more.”
Intelligence agencies around the world are able to extract information on who is visiting such sites.
“In the world of intelligence there are various ways to conduct your business and stopping these (websites) is not always the right thing to do,” Juneau-Katsuya said.
He said there isn’t much concern that such websites turn moderate Muslims into radicals — the ones that visit are already radicals and use such websites only for communication.
For an organization that once opposed computers and technology, al-Qaida has now converted to embracing the Internet wholeheartedly, Juneau-Katsuya said.
“The vast majority of people in the world don’t go to these websites but the extremists do,” Juneau-Katsuya said.

No, it will NEVER be appropriate to hold hearings on “radical islam!” Why? Because by legitimizing this redundant term we are buying into the taqiyya lie that there is a side of islam which is peaceful, tolerant and inclusive. When are we going to finally realize that every moslem, guided by mein koranf, whether militant or merely enabling, blindly believes that his mission in life is to wipe us kufr apes and pigs from the face of the earth en route to imposing the world caliphate? Any moslem who fails to so believe is considered an apostate, and hence a candidate for the death penalty.
Yes! These hearings must certainly go ahead, but with one crucial modification – it is not the circumlocution “radical islam” which must be investigated, but rather purely and simply “islam.”

For the above commentor, I live in NY, but I’m on Long Island and wasn’t able to vote for the mayor. That said, I’m not sure if I might not have supported him.
Bloomberg started out pretty good. He was efficient and effective during his first term. He changed a bit during his second and his audacity to change the term limit rules – for himself only – when running a third time, turned most people off.
I really don’t know what happened to the man. Something or somebody got to him.

Lastly, and probably worst, islam is not really even a religion as much as it presents clinically as a psychosis. It is more like a mental illness that indulges a fantastic hatred of all things not islam. And historically, when non-muslims have not been available to kill and war against, islam turns upon itself preying faction upon faction, individual upon individual. Murder, hatred and death are found wherever it is.
Now just for a second, is it possible that such an insatiable and voracious ideology could be appeased with tolerance?
