If you don’t know about Gambia it is an overwhelming Muslim populated country in Africa.
The U.S. government estimates the total population at 2.2 million (midyear 2020 estimate). Approximately 95.7 percent of the population is Muslim, most of whom are Sunni, with a small Ahmadi Muslim population.
More importantly if you don’t know what FGM stands for it is Female Genital Mutilation. A pure act of evil.

FGM, or female genital mutilation, has been officially banned in The Gambia since 2015. But a new bill passed by the small west African nation this week would reverse that ban. Host Marco Werman speaks with Fatou Baldeh, an anti-FGM activist and survivor, about what this repeal of the ban will mean for women in the country.
