I as a Muslim do not want any images of our beloved prophet (peace be upon him) because this posting his image leads to disregard and disrespect. I am not sure if you follow any religion or believe in God. But we regard all the prophets as the most highest of people. They were sent in order to teach us how to live and act. Jesus (peace be upon him) has pictures of him everywhere. Christians allow it. But what happens is that having so many pictures of him (movies, pictures, paintings, cartoons) it has turned him into almost a mythical being. Sort of like the easter bunny, santa clause. When you start making pictures of a prophet, these pictures can become symbols. Symbols are extremely powerful. Symbols can be manipulated and used in some very evil ways. The prophets (peace be upon them) were handpicked by God. Even their physical attributes were specifically picked by God. The energy and influence of their physical presence cannot be transferred to a picture. So why would you disrespect them and try. Their words and teachings were extremely powerful. You wouldn’t want to change those. Their beloved physical essence were powerful as well. No need to attribute what is not known. What is not known you leave as unknown. It amazes me that you worry so much about idolatry, yet Muslims continue to practice the same rites and customs of their pre-Islamic Arabian pagan predecessors. It may take 100's, or maybe even 1000's of years for the un-evolved humans to eventually die out, in the mean time, we have to live with their continuous unenlightened stupidity.
