Study: Threat of Muslim-American terrorism in U.S. exaggerated

(CNN) — The terrorist threat posed by radicalized Muslim- Americans has been exaggerated, according to a study released Wednesday by researchers at Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

A small number of Muslim-Americans have undergone radicalization since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, the study found. It compiled a list of 139 individuals it categorized as “Muslim-American terrorism offenders” who had become radicalized in the U.S. in that time — a rate of 17 per year.

That level is “small compared to other violent crime in America, but not insignificant,” according to the study, titled “Anti-Terror Lessons of Muslim-Americans.”

To be included on the list, an offender had to have been wanted, arrested, convicted or killed in connection with terrorism-related activities since 9/11 — and have lived in the United States, regardless of immigration status, for more than a year prior to arrest.

This is obviously a very flawed study. So only the ones that are wanted, caught, or dead are on the list. How about all the other ones that are currently plotting to strike America? Also this is a two-tier problem. There are two threats in regards to Islam, violent Muslims and Muslims that use the political aspect of Islam to slowly takeover. The political ones are an even bigger threat than potential suicide bombers and they need to be brought into this conversation. Like the Cancer on American Islamic Relations. They have offices in over 30 cities in 19 states and they are the masters of political Islam. There are also dozens of Islamic terrorist camps here in America. So there are a lot more than 139 people right there. Or how about the Wahhabi preaching Bridgeview Mosque in Chicago that attracts approximately 10,000 worshippers per week? I could easily go on, but I think that I have made my point. Talking about the Islamic threat and purposely leaving out the political aspect of Islam, is like having cancer in both lungs and only treating one of them.

Of the 139 offenders, fewer than a third successfully executed a violent plan, according to a Duke University statement on the study, and most of those were overseas. Read the report:”Anti-Terror Lessons of Muslim-Americans”

So what, it does not count if their plot didn’t takeoff as planned? It will only take one Muslim to detonate a nuke in a US city. But then Duke can bring the number up to 140, in this meaningless study.

“Muslim-American organizations and the vast majority of individuals that we interviewed firmly reject the radical extremist ideology that justifies the use of violence to achieve political ends,” David Schanzer, an associate professor in Duke’s Sanford School of Public Policy and director of the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security, said in the statement.

David, did it ever occur to you that they might be lying like their religion encourages them to? Also, do you even begin to realize that the political aspect of Islam is an even bigger threat to life as we know it than potential violent Muslims? If they takeover through violence or politics, in the end we still lose.

But it is the Muslim-American communities themselves who play a large role in keeping the number of radicalized members low through their own practices, according to the study. Leaders and Muslim-American organizations denounce violent acts, for instance, in messages that have weight within communities.

How do you know they were just not denouncing these acts in your presence and if you are talking about CAIR, they will say anything to cover for Islam. Did they denounce the political aspect of Islam taking over America?

“Muslim-American communities have been active in preventing radicalization,” said Charles Kurzman, professor of sociology at UNC, in the statement. “This is one reason that Muslim-American terrorism has resulted in fewer than three dozen of the 136,000 murders committed in the United States since 9/11.”

The reason that it is fewer than dozen is because they keep on getting caught before they can act. It is not for lack of trying.

Steps can be taken to minimize radicalization among Muslim-Americans, the study said. The most important is encouraging political mobilization among Muslims, which helps prevent radicalization and also demonstrates to Muslims abroad “that grievances can be resolved through peaceful democratic means.” Policymakers should include Muslim-Americans in their outreach efforts, and public officials should attend events at mosques, as they do churches and synagogues, the study recommended.

The above statement just reeks of ignorance. This is exactly what was tried in the UK and now Muslims there are pushing for Sharia Law as the only law of the land. Getting them involved in politics will surely backfire, as they will use our democracy to advance Islam. This can be seen across the West.

Also, Muslim-American communities should widely disseminate their condemnation of terrorism and violence, and those statements should be publicized, the study said. Law enforcement has a role to play as well, by making efforts to increase the level of trust and communication with such communities. This could include the cultivation of Muslim-American informants, the study suggested, a policy that could be developed and openly discussed with community leaders.

American Muslims have clearly stated that they do not like law enforcement being around. Next time, please do some actual research.

However, policies that alienate Muslims may increase the threat of homegrown terrorism rather than reducing it, the study said.

Translation: we should always cater to them in order to make them happy and not feel “alienated”. One demand will lead to another. No thanks, not interested in appeasing them and they do not reciprocate. The threat of Islamic terrorist is increasing across the West and nothing that anyone is doing for the Islamic community is decreasing it.

Schanzer, Kurzman and Ebrahim Moosa, associate professor of religion at Duke, co-authored the study, which summarized two years of research involving interviews of more than 120 Muslims in four different communities nationwide — Seattle, Washington; Houston, Texas; Buffalo, New York; and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. The study was funded by a grant from the Department of Justice.

What a waste of time and money. It seems that the professors had only one intention and that was to whitewash the threat of Islam. Lets take a look at their backgrounds.

Here is Schanzer’s resume and he still does not get it.

David Schanzer was appointed to be Director of the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security in 2005. He previously served in a variety of positions in the legislative and executive branches of the federal government, including Minority Staff Director of the Committee on Homeland Security, United States House of Representatives and Special Counsel, Office of the General Counsel, United States Department of Defense.

Then there is Kurzman, who edited a book entitled “Liberal Islam”, back in 1998. Does he even begin to realize that the problem has gotten much worse since then, or is he still waiting for those “moderates” to come to the rescue?

Lastly we have Moosa, who is a Muslim that serves on the powerful Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). So I am sure that he had a big say in watering down the truth. It is a shame that these professors get to spread misinformation and false hope to our country’s youth.
