Congressional Candidate L.Torgerson Tonight on The Weekly Filibuster Radio Show

How are you?  I hope you are well.

Lynne Torgerson here, Your Stateswoman for Congress.

I am announcing that I am running for Congress in the Fifth Congressional District, State of Minnesota.   It will not be politics as usual.

I planning on defeating Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to office.

I am running independent, without any party affiliation. So, I need and am seeking your support. You can view my positions on various issues at my website at

I am grateful to live in the country that is the safest, most free, and most prosperous on earth. I believe in the American Dream. It is my desire that America and Americans be both prosperous and protected. I believe in a strong homeland security and keeping jobs in America. I would like to eliminate dependence on foreign oil, develop clean energy, but not develop nuclear energy. I am green with respect to the environment (and animals), and oppose cloning and genetically altered food. On social issues, my positions are consistent with the Catholic church, such as life beginning at conception and traditional marriage, but I also support equal rights for women. I am also big on freedom of speech and freedom of religion, as establishment by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, and feel that Islam has put a chill on some of these rights. I also support our ally Israel, and oppose Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon. I also support the Second Amendmenthealth care reform of some sort, and restrictions on credit card companies. I oppose the auto bailout.

I seek office to better continue the work I have done in and around Minnesota for over thirty-years, protecting constitutional rights, helping those in trouble, helping to turn problems around.

By way of background, I attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1985. There I obtained degrees in Political Science and Psychology. Following college, I attended law school at William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota. There I was on Law Review and Moot Court. In 1990, I obtained my law degreegraduating with honors.  After graduation from law school, I was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Ralph J. Geffen, United States Magistrate Judge, United States District Court, Central District of California, Los Angeles, California. I have had my own successful law practice downtown Minneapolis since 1995.

I very much need your support.  In  this email letter I am seeking monetary donations.  I need monetary donations to pay for my website, ADVERTISING, administrative help, lawnsigns, campaign business cards, paper, buttons, postage, cell phones, billboards, etc.  Please consider making a donation.  Please make a donation today. It can be done easily and securely by going to my website at and using the PayPal button.  A check can also be mailed to the address below.  (Corporate checks are prohibited).  Every dollar counts, and adds up.  There is no amount too small or too large (although the upper limit per year is $2000).  Please consider making a donation in the amount of $5, $12, $33, $42, $84, $100, $250, $500, $1000, or $2000, or other.  Make a one time donation or a monthly donation.  Some might suggest making a monthly donation in between your gas and electric bill.  I would greatly appreciate any and all support you can send my way.   I cannot do everything that needs to be done all by myself.  So again, I need your help.  A campaign takes many, many, many hours and many dollars.

Thank you in advance for your well wishes and your support.  God bless.

Paid for by Torgerson for Congress.

Hate Crimes Against Muslims on the Decline

We constantly see Muslims playing the victim card and even US Military leaders were afraid of a backlash against Muslims after the Islamic terrorist attack on Fort Hood. Well the truth is that the number of hate crimes against Muslims is on the decline.

According to CAIR’s (Council on American Islamic Relations) study:
Anti-Muslim hate crime complaints fell by 14 percent in 2008, decreasing from 135 total complaints in 2007 to 116 in 2008.

But the number of Muslims complaining about their “civil rights” has risen. Which means that more of them are working the system to help advance Islam and weaken our security.

“In 2008, Muslims continued to face barriers to their full and equal participation in American society. Certain individuals and institutions persisted in profiting by smearing Islam. American Muslims continued to fear profiling, surveillance and undue scrutiny by law enforcement and other authorities.”

CAIR and its affiliate chapters nationwide processed a total of 2,728 incidents in 2008. That figure represents a three percent increase in reported cases from 2007 (2,652 reports) and an 11 percent increase over cases reported in 2006 (2,467 reports). It is the highest number of civil rights cases ever recorded in CAIR’s annual report. (Note: The higher number of cases is due in part to inclusion of a new category of cases related to mailed, faxed and e-mailed threats and hate messages.)

According to CAIR’s study:

The occurrence of reported civil rights complaints increased at mosques and Muslim organizations, rising from 564 cases in 2007 to 721 cases in 2008. This represents a 28 percent increase from 2007 to 2008.

Here is the part where CAIR wants to further weaken our security against the Islamic threat.

The report also offers recommendations for action by the Obama administration, Congress and American Muslim institutions.

The Obama administration is asked to 1) review and revise guidelines issued by then Attorney General Mukasey in late 2008 that allow racial and religious profiling, 2) to reduce the size of the watch lists, and 3) to implement effective means by which travelers who believe they have been profiled may seek redress. President Obama is also asked to visit an American mosque.

CAIR is no friend of America as non-Muslims know it.

Soros Study: UK Muslims Most Patriotic

Leftist George Soros has reached a new low, as he is looking to give a good name to the Sharia loving Muslims of the UK. Sure Muslims there consider themselves British, as they think that they own the place. Calling for war from the Sharia Courts is a perfect example of this. Next time mind your own business George, some of us actually know what is going on there.

UK Muslims Europe’s Most Patriotic: Study

CAIRO — Though being looked at with suspicion, Muslims in the United Kingdom are the most patriotic in Europe, a new study by a leading international institute has found. On average 78 percent of Muslims identified themselves as British, according to a study conducted by the Open Society Institute and cited by Sunday Times on December 13.

The study, funded by George Soros, the billionaire philanthropist, was conducted over two and a half years, involving 2,200 in-depth interviews and 60 focus groups in 11 cities across Europe with large Muslim communities.

The cities were chosen to be representative of varying levels of integration and cohesion across the continent.

The results show that on average 78 percent of Muslims identified themselves as British, 49 percent considered themselves French and just 23 percent who feel German.

The survey found that levels of patriotism are much higher among second-generation Muslims.

In Leicester, 72 percent of Muslims born abroad said they felt British compared to 94percent among UK-born Muslims.

Nazia Hussain, director of the research project, believes the study shows a discrepancy between how British Muslims see themselves and how the society looks at them.

“There is a disturbing message that emerges from these findings,” Hussain told the Times.

“Even though Muslims overwhelmingly feel British, they’re not seen as British by wider society,” she added.

A 2007 survey by the Financial Times showed that Britons are the most suspicious about Muslims.

UK Sharia Courts:Sharia is the law of the Land, Wage war

(Repost from Islam in Action.)
When the Sharia Courts in the UK were first announced, anyone who can see past the day that they are in knew that this would lead to nothing but more demands and trouble. In a followup to the “85 Sharia Courts in UK, Says Report” story we learn what the UK Sharia Courts are calling for.

Hat tip to Roland.

Muslims in Britain Have Religious Duty to “Fight the British and Americans” says New Sharia Court Exposé

Muslims living in Britain are under orders from Sharia courts to regard “fighting with Britons and Americans as a religious duty” a shocking new report on Sharia courts in Britain has claimed.

Issued by independent think tank Civitas, the new report, called “Sharia Law or ‘One Law for All’?” and authored by Islamic specialist Denis MacEoin, also says that there are now around 85 Sharia courts in Britain.

The open declaration of war – Jihad – against ordinary British and American people by Islamic law courts is a damning indictment of the treason committed by the Tory and Labour parties in allowing millions of Muslims to settle in Britain.

In addition to the horrifying declaration of holy war against British and American people, the Sharia courts operating in Britain have also ordered that:

Sharia law must override the judgements of British courts;

– Muslims living in this country are under orders to disobey Britain’s laws when it contradicts Islamic values;

– Muslims are forbidden to take out insurance, even if required by (UK) law.

– There is no requirement to register a marriage according to the law of the country;

– Polygamous marriage (that is, two to four wives) is legal; and

– A Muslim lawyer has to act contrary to UK law where it contradicts Sharia.

According to a press release issued today by Civitas, the courts operate inside the rapidly spreading network of mosques throughout Britain.

In the press release, Mr MacEoin wrote that it is extremely difficult to find out what goes on in these 85 courts, so he has relied on a range of fatwas issued by popular online fatwa sites, run out of or accessed through mosques in the UK as an indication of the sort of rulings these Sharia courts are making.

Only five of the Sharia law courts are publicly known and run by the Muslim Arbitration Tribunal, a body whose rulings are enforced through the state courts under the 1996 Arbitration Act.

However, Mr MacEoin said that “Sharia courts should not be recognised under the Arbitration Act.

“Sharia courts operating in Britain may be handing down rulings that are inappropriate to this country because they are linked to elements in Islamic law that are seriously out of step with trends in Western legislation,” Mr MacEoin wrote.

The revelation that Sharia rulings or fatwas are being enforced through state courts by the Muslim Arbitration Tribunal (MAT) has alarmed many, especially as the Arbitration Act, under which this takes place, specifically excludes divorce and childcare cases.

“Under most interpretations of Islam a person who leaves the faith is an apostate who can be put to death. While this threat remains, it cannot be accepted that Sharia councils are nothing more than independent arbitrators guided by faith,” the Civitas press release continued.

“The reality is that for many Muslims, Sharia courts are in practice part of an institutionalised atmosphere of intimidation, backed by the ultimate sanction of a death threat. The underlying problem is that Sharia law reflects male-dominated Asian and Arabic cultures. It cannot therefore be accepted as a legally valid basis even for settling private disagreements in a country like ours, where our law embodies the equal legal status of everyone, regardless of race, gender or religion.”

Mr MacEoin wrote in his conclusion that the “introduction of Sharia law into this country is a recipe for a dichotomous legal system that holds Muslims and non-Muslims to different standards.

“This is not a matter of eating halal meat or seeking God’s blessing on one’s marriage. It is a challenge to what we believe to be the rights and freedoms of the individual, to our concept of a legal system based on what Parliament enacts, and to the right of all of us to live in a society as free as possible from ethnic-religious division or communal claims to superiority and a special status that puts them in some respects above the law to which we are all bound.”

* In their coverage of the Civitas press release, all of the mainstream media deliberately suppressed the part dealing with the Sharia courts’ declaration of Jihad against British and American people.

UK Bishop: Taliban can be Admired

Although Muslims of the UK are looking to shove Sharia Law down the throats of everyone there, for the most part the Church is silent. Well that is except when they have a chance to support the enemy, just like they did when they came out in favor of the UK Sharia Courts. The slow suicide continues.

Taliban can be admired for their faith and loyalty, says bishop
The Taliban can be admired for their conviction to their faith and their sense of loyalty to one another, the new bishop for the Armed Forces has claimed.

By Jonathan Wynne-Jones and Duncan Gardham
13 Dec 2009

The Rt Rev Stephen Venner called for a more sympathetic approach to the Islamic fundamentalists that recognises their humanity.

The Church of England’s Bishop to the Forces warned that it will be harder to reach a peaceful solution to the war if the Afghan insurgents are portrayed too negatively.

His comments came as the Prime Minister visited Afghanistan and warned that the Taliban was fighting a “guerilla war” aimed at causing “maximum damage”. Gordon Brown said soldiers were discovering improvised explosive devices every two hours.

Mr Brown stayed overnight in the Allied base in the southern city of Kandahar, the first British Prime Minister to spend the night in a war zone since Winston Churchill. His visit came days after the death of Lance Corporal Adam Drane, the 100th member of the British forces to die in Afghanistan this year. His death brought the total number of British service personnel who have died since the start of operations in 2001 to 237.

Bishop Venner stressed his admiration for the sacrifices made by the British forces fighting in Afghanistan but also urged the need for a reassessment of how the Taliban are viewed.

“We’ve been too simplistic in our attitude towards the Taliban,” said Bishop Venner, who was recently commissioned in his new role by Dr Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury.

“There’s a large number of things that the Taliban say and stand for which none of us in the west could approve, but simply to say therefore that everything they do is bad is not helping the situation because it’s not honest really.

“The Taliban can perhaps be admired for their conviction to their faith and their sense of loyalty to each other.”

Besides their attacks on the armed forces, the Taliban have also been responsible for public beatings, amputations and executions and have launched bomb attacks on the civilian population in Afghanistan.

They often refer to foreign forces as “Crusaders” in an echo of the religious wars of the Middle Ages.

The bishop said that some of their methods of combat are not honourable or acceptable, but argued that it was unhelpful to demonise them.

“We must remember that there are a lot of people who are under their influence for a whole range of reasons, and we simply can’t lump all of those together.

“To blanket them all as evil and paint them as black is not helpful in a very complex situation.”

Bishop Venner said that everyone in Afghanistan, including the Taliban, would have to be included in discussions to find a solution to the conflict.

“Afghanistan is going we hope in the end to find a way to live together with justice and prosperity for all. In order to do that we have to involve all the people of Afghanistan to find it.

“It is that lasting and just peace that will in the end justify the sacrifices our servicemen and women have made.”

In the meantime, he said, the Government has “a moral duty” to ensure that the army is properly equipped.

Colonel Richard Kemp, a former commander in Afghanistan who has written about the insurgency, said the bishop was being naïve.

“We clearly need to understand our enemy but that is more of a military issue rather than a religious one,” he said.

“There are elements in the Taliban who do not act from a religious perspective and it is important to understand and turn them around.

“But there are many others who will not be persuaded. Their central creed and ethos is about violent oppression which comes from a politics of extreme religion that has very little to commend it in terms that we would recognise or appreciate.

“In many ways it is a mistake to compare their faith of extreme holy war with the kind of religion of peace and understanding that the bishop follows. They certainly wouldn’t show understanding of his faith.”

Earlier this year, Peter Davies, the mayor of Doncaster, claimed that British society could learn from Taliban family values. He said that under the Taliban, Afghanistan had an “ordered system of family life”.
